About the Role
<p>We are seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong civils and commercial construction background to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates and supporting ongoing projects across the Civil and Utilities sectors including electrical substations, renewable energy, and wind infrastructure.</p>
<p>This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional looking to work on Civil and Utilities infrastructure as well as Energy projects within a dynamic and expanding business.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><br />
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction and infrastructure projects<br />
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation<br />
• Source and price construction materials, labour, plant, and subcontractor packages<br />
• Support the Commercial Manager with budgeting, forecasting, and tender submissions<br />
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations<br />
• Assist with cost planning across ongoing projects within the business<br />
• Review project risks and opportunities during the tender process<br />
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market rates and industry trends<br />
• Support projects across sectors including: Civil engineering, Electrical substations & Wind farm infrastructure</p>
<p><strong>Requirements</strong><br />
• Proven experience as an Estimator within construction or civil engineering<br />
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction costing<br />
• Experience working on civils, infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects<br />
• Knowledge of electrical substation or renewable energy projects would be advantageous<br />
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications<br />
• Strong analytical and numerical skills<br />
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities<br />
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software</p>
<p><strong>Desirable</strong><br />
• Experience within renewable energy or power sectors<br />
• HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar<br />
• Full UK driving licence</p>
