<p>Position Summary:</p>
<p>A leading construction management firm is seeking a highly skilled Design/Build Estimator to support preconstruction efforts for federal, institutional, and commercial projects. Based in Middlesex County, MA, this role is responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates during the early phases of design-build pursuits, working closely with design teams, project managers, and business development professionals.</p>
<p>Key Responsibilities:</p>
<p>Preconstruction & Estimating<br />
Develop conceptual and schematic estimates based on limited design information.<br />
Perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost analysis across all major trades.<br />
Collaborate with architects and engineers to ensure cost-effective design solutions.<br />
Prepare scope narratives, pricing breakdowns, and bid packages for design-build proposals.<br />
Subcontractor Engagement<br />
Identify and prequalify subcontractors and suppliers for design-build opportunities.<br />
Issue bid invitations and manage communications throughout the proposal phase.<br />
Review and level subcontractor bids to ensure scope coverage and competitiveness.<br />
Proposal Development<br />
Contribute to proposal strategy, including pricing, value engineering, and risk analysis.<br />
Assist in preparing technical and cost volumes for federal and private sector clients.<br />
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.<br />
Technology & Documentation<br />
Use estimating software such as Sage Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff, and Bluebeam.<br />
Maintain organized records of estimates, bid documents, and correspondence.<br />
Support continuous improvement of estimating tools and historical cost databases.</p>
<p>Qualifications:</p>
<p>5–8 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on design-build delivery.<br />
Strong understanding of construction means and methods across multiple trades.<br />
Experience with federal procurement and FAR compliance is a plus.<br />
Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.<br />
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and construction estimating platforms.<br />
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.<br />
Preferred Experience:<br />
Prior involvement in federal design-build projects.<br />
Familiarity with collaborative preconstruction environments.<br />
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure.</p>
