Teaching Personnel is recruiting experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join specialist educational provisions in the Shepton Mallet area.
These opportunities are available on both a full-time and part-time basis, with a September 2026 start and the possibility of beginning earlier for the right candidates.
The settings support children and young people with a range of additional needs, including autism, communication difficulties, moderate learning needs, complex needs and social, emotional and mental health challenges. • Provide individual and small group support tailored to pupils' needs.
• Help pupils access the curriculum through differentiated approaches and practical activities.
• Support communication, emotional regulation and social development.
• Encourage independence and positive relationships.
• Assist with sensory activities and therapeutic programmes.
• Promote positive behaviour and support pupils during challenging moments.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and families to ensure consistent support.
• Assist with personal care and medical needs where required.
• Have previous experience within SEN, SEMH or specialist educational settings.
• Are resilient, patient and compassionate.
• Can adapt quickly to different situations and pupil needs.
• Are confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Have a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
