  • Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Hours per week:
  • 36 to 40
  • Application deadline:

Join the LSRI programme BioBeyond_NL. Bring your expertise in chemical biology, bioorganic chemistry, synthetic chemistry and passion for developing new molecular tools to study biomolecular interactions in a system-wide manner.

Your job

Molecules in our body constantly make interactions. This is an essential process for life. When a cell is at a diseased state, the interaction landscape can drastically change. We develop chemical tools to investigate these interactions to understand health and disease. The project will focus on advancing approaches in deciphering biomolecule interactions, chemical proteomics, glycoproteomics, or glycomics, with particular emphasis on uncovering spatiotemporal molecular mechanisms in biologically relevant contexts.

As a Postdoctoral Researcher you will will contribute to the design and application of innovative chemical strategies, including crosslinking, proximity labeling, and biocompatible photocatalysis for method development and fundamental discovery. Key tasks in the lab include organic synthesis, compound characterization, biochemical assays, cell-based assays and MS-based(glyco)proteomics analysis.

You will be supervised by Dr. Zeshi Li

Your qualities

You are a researcher who is excited by fundamental research, method development, and interdisciplinary science at the chemistry–biology interface. Next to that you meet the following criteria:

  • A PhD in Chemical Biology, Bioorganic Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, or related field.
  • Expertise in organic synthsis, compound characterization, biochemical assays, and cell-based assays.
  • Prior experience with or affinity for MS-based proteomics is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
Our offer
  • a position for one year, with an extension of two additional years upon a positive evaluation;
  • a gross monthly salary, depending on qualifications and experience, between € 3.546 and €5.538 in the case of full-time employment (salary scale 10 under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU));
