Position Overview
We are seeking a Security Architect with strong cybersecurity expertise and broad foundational IT knowledge to help shape and mature the organizationâs security architecture. This individual will work closely with senior security leadership and play a critical role in securing a large, complex, and evolving technology landscape.
This is a high-visibility, high-impact role ideal for someone who thrives in environments with limited documentation, enjoys solving problems independently, and can think holistically across the entire IT ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Security Architecture & Technology Oversight
Manage and work across the organizationâs security stack, including MDM, EDR, CASB, identity platforms, MFA/SSO, and firewall technologies.
Apply security principles across servers, networks, cloud services, applications, and user workflows.
Collaborate with teams to ensure security is integrated into all IT components.
Infrastructure & Network Alignment
Understand and navigate a large, segmented network environment.
Partner with network teams to align routing, switching, and segmentation strategies with security requirements.
Governance, Risk, and Compliance
Work with GRC tools to support exposure tracking, data labeling, risk workflows, and compliance/privacy controls.
Apply NIST, CIS, and other relevant frameworks to guide architecture decisions.
Cloud Security
Support security considerations across cloud platforms, including Azure and Oracle environments.
Strategic Problem-Solving
Operate effectively with minimal documentation or predefined processes.
Take initiative to identify issues, propose solutions, and drive outcomes in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
Top Priorities in the First Six Months
Develop a strong understanding of the organizationâs IT architecture, segmentation, and core systems.
Apply security concepts holisticallyânot just within a single technology stack.
Demonstrate proactive, self-directed problem-solving in an environment with limited structure.
Required Qualifications
Deep cybersecurity expertise and understanding of what compromises look like, and how monitoring and controls prevent incidents.
Broad IT background, including familiarity with servers, networks, infrastructure components, and operational IT.
Experience with enterprise security tools such as EDR, CASB, firewalls, identity and access management, and GRC platforms.
Understanding of NIST and CIS security standards.
Ability to work independently, think at a conceptual level, and figure out solutions without constant guidance.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience
Background in infrastructure or network engineering with exposure to security tooling and concepts.
Experience in large public-sector, enterprise-scale, or highly regulated environments.
Candidates looking to grow into an architecture role are welcome if they have strong general IT and security foundations.
Work Environment
Hybrid: 3 days onsite per week (flexible days).
Opportunity to convert to full-time employment after 6â12 months (if initially contracting).
