Clinical Engineering Roles

Whether your specialty is in Biomed or diagnostic imaging equipment, we have a place for you. Check out what some of the typical responsibilities are within these two types of clinical engineering roles.

Biomedical Imaging

• Perform planned maintenance and electrical safety inspections on a broad range of patient care and selected support equipment in compliance with established standards.
• Work with fellow technical personnel in department meetings. Keep them up-to-date on technical updates and/or device-related problems.
• Perform pre-acceptance inspections and develop PM procedures on equipment; maintain files on procedures and manuals.

Diagnostic Imaging

• Perform planned preventive maintenance, calibrations where certification may be required and electrical safety inspections on imaging and related equipment in compliance with established standards.
• Conduct and compile Quality Assurance records and reports necessary for compliance with specifications and policies.
• Perform major repairs by replacing defective components, and readjusting components to the manufacturer’s specifications using appropriate tools and measuring instruments. May require certification in order to complete repairs.

Required Education

Education requirements vary by specific role. For most roles, we look for:

• An Associate degree in biomedical equipment technology. Military training is also preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience can be substituted. Certification(s) preferred, i.e., CBET, A+, etc.

My Great Start

My Great Start is a Crothall Healthcare program that helps ensure your success. In the first week you’ll work towards fostering relationships with your team and the company, with the goal of learning more about the company. My Great Start continues through the next 90 days and includes brief check-ins every 30 days to ensure your success and continued growth.

Foundations

The program consists of self-paced e-learning modules and includes an overview of the company, lessons in leadership, patient experience, talent management and critical compliance training.

Starting Salary

• Biomedical Engineering - Frontline

  Starting roles average at $48,000 BMET 1. Frontline starting salaries vary by market and hospital location.

• Biomedical Engineering - Management

  Early management level salaries starting at $68,000. Sign-on bonus available in select markets.

• Diagnostic Imaging - Frontline

  Starting roles average at $55,000 ISE 1. Frontline starting salaries vary by market and hospital location.
