Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging learning activities across the primary curriculum.
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and help pupils achieve their full potential.
  • Provide additional support for pupils with varying learning needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), where required.
  • Encourage pupils’ confidence, independence, and active participation in classroom activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning resources and help maintain an organised, stimulating classroom environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour through consistent support and encouragement, following the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers to support learning and development.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues.
  • Support the wider life of the school, including playground duties, educational visits, and extracurricular activities where appropriate.
  • Promote safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times.
  • Uphold the school’s values and commitment to providing an inclusive, high-quality education for every child.

Pre-requisites:

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally within a primary school or educational setting.
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient, caring, and enthusiastic approach to supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • A willingness to support pupils with a range of learning abilities and additional needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Two recent education-based references.
