About the Role

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a local housing association for an experienced Lettings Officer to support their busy housing team on a temporary basis. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining home-based administrative work with patch-based responsibilities, supporting the allocation and letting of social housing properties. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with housing allocations or lettings experience who is confident managing the full lettings process from advertisement through to tenancy sign-up.

Key Responsibilities of a Lettings Officer:
  • Upload available properties onto the Choice Based Lettings (CBL) system and ensure properties are advertised accurately and on time.
  • Validate and review applicant shortlists, ensuring allocations follow policy and eligibility criteria.
  • Keep applicants informed throughout the lettings process and provide clear communication regarding offers and next steps.
  • Work closely with the property services team to support zero turnaround times between tenancies.
  • Arrange and conduct property viewings and manage the offer process end-to-end.
  • Contact successful applicants, explain the offer and next steps, and issue offer letters.
  • Carry out pre-tenancy interviews and suitability checks, verifying affordability, support needs, and household details.
  • Liaise with relevant support agencies where additional support requirements are identified.
  • Complete tenancy sign-ups and ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant.
  • Maintain clear case notes and system records, ensuring decisions are transparent and well documented.
  • Prepare reports for refusals where required and update housing management systems accordingly.
What We'd Love To See:
  • Previous experience working in housing lettings, allocations, or housing management within a social housing environment.
  • Experience working with Choice Based Lettings (CBL) systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Confident communicating with applicants, internal teams, and external agencies.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and work in line with housing policies and procedures.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
What’s on Offer for this Lettings Officer role:
  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Hybrid working – mix of home-based and patch-based work
  • Opportunity to work with a well-established housing association
  • Immediate start available
