About the Role
A leading national law firm is seeking a Supervisor to join its growing EL/PL team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced EL/PL lawyer ready to step into a leadership role within a well-established and highly regarded defendant personal injury practice.
The team handles employers’ liability and public liability claims, typically valued up to £100,000, with supervisors and senior lawyers overseeing higher value and more complex matters. You will play a key role in supervising a small team while maintaining a hands-on caseload and building strong insurer and corporate client relationships.
Flexible working is available, with fully remote, hybrid or office-based options across the UK. The firm is particularly keen to hear from candidates based in or around Birmingham or South Wales.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Supervising and managing a small team of paralegals handling litigated EL/PL claims • Providing technical oversight on liability, quantum and tactical decisions • Conducting interim reviews, performance appraisals and managing absence • Monitoring team financial performance and ensuring KPIs and targets are met • Allocating work effectively to maximise efficiency and profitability • Ensuring compliance with client SLAs, internal protocols and regulatory requirements • Managing complaints, risk and compliance issues in conjunction with senior leadership • Acting as a key point of contact for insurer and corporate clients • Supporting marketing and business development initiatives • Handling a reduced caseload of mixed value EL/PL claims
About You
This role would suit a Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or experienced Paralegal with strong EL/PL or personal injury litigation experience and either existing supervisory experience or a genuine desire to step into a leadership role.
You will have:
• Demonstrable experience handling employers’ liability, public liability or similar personal injury claims • Strong knowledge of litigated personal injury matters and the CPR • Experience working to client SLAs, KPIs and performance metrics • Good people management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and mentor others • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills • Commercial awareness and sound judgement • Confident communication and client-facing skills • Resilience and the ability to manage competing demands
