Over 320 attendees connected with 35 employers, charities and organisations, as well as the Careers, Peer Mentoring and Volunteering teams. We’re looking for enthusiasm for creating a better framework on which public services are built.” Rose from Think Ahead was at the Fair to promote their fast-track two-year training programme to become a mental health social worker with vulnerable adults.  At the end of the first year you get a postgraduate diploma, and at the end of the second you get a Masters, which enables you to work as a mental health social worker,”  she explained. Teach West London, sponsors of the Fair, were publicising their local schools-based path to teaching.  We are a route for anyone with a passion for the power of education and how it can change people’s lives. They train with us for one day a week and then for the rest they are in their chosen school. They learn on the job and grow in confidence and practical skills from the very beginning,”  explained their Head, Lesley. Other employers at the Fair included the House of Commons Library, LawQWE, Legal 500 Future Lawyers, the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme, Omnicom Health Group, SAJ Legal Solicitors and many more. Final year BSc (Hons) Forensic Science student Elina was at the fair to find out about career prospects. “It was interesting to engage with the wide range of employers and then take away their information so that I can follow up with them,” she commented. “The opportunities with the British Transport Police seem particularly interesting to me.” UWL students can learn about thousands of job opportunities, including part-time, internship, placements, and graduate roles on the Student Hub.
