About the Role

About the role:

We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school near Norwich from September. This is a long-term, full-time supply role supporting a pupil with additional needs on a one-to-one basis, helping them to access learning and build confidence throughout the school day.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to provide consistent, tailored support for the pupil. You will help to create a positive, structured and nurturing learning environment, using appropriate strategies to support communication, engagement, emotional regulation and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupil with ASD.
  • Support the pupil’s learning, communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing.
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence and confidence in the classroom and around school.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals.
  • Maintain a calm, consistent and inclusive approach throughout the school day.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with children in a primary school, nursery, care or support setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, SEND or additional needs would be highly desirable.
  • Two education or school based references within the past 2 years.
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to follow individual support plans and school routines.
