MOBILE ARCHITECT Division: Defence Division Job Type: Contract/Interim Contact Phone: 01782 203040 Salary: £450 - £600 per day Location: North East Ref #: LZLMOBARC Post Date: 05-03-2026 01:26 PM Apply Direct REQUIRED: MOBILE ARCHITECT DURATION: 6 MONTH INITIAL CONTRACT IR35 STATUS: OUTSIDE LOCATION: FULLY REMOTE WITH VERY OCCASIONAL TRAVEL ROLE SUMMARY The Mobile Technology Architect is responsible for defining, owning, and governing the end-to-end mobile architecture for large-scale enterprise applications. This role spans iOS, Android, backend integration, AWS cloud platforms, security, and CI/CD, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing mobile solutions from concept through production. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Define and own mobile application architecture across iOS and Android platforms using Swift, SwiftUI, Kotlin, and Java. * Establish and govern architectural patterns such as MVVM, Clean Architecture, and modular design. * Design and validate backend integration patterns with scalable microservices built using Scala, Akka, or Java. * Define API contracts (REST ), error handling, versioning, and backward compatibility strategies. * Architect cloud-native solutions on AWS, including EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, and networking. * Ensure secure authentication and authorization using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, and encryption standards. * Lead mobile CI/CD strategy using Bitrise, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions for build, test, and release automation. * Define push notification architecture using Firebase Messaging, including deep links and analytics tagging. * Drive performance, scalability, observability, and resilience across mobile and backend systems. * Lead technical reviews, mentor engineers, and provide architectural governance across teams. * Evaluate new technologies, run POCs, and recommend best-fit solutions in a technology-agnostic manner. * Support App Store and Play Store release strategies, versioning, and rollout controls. SKILLS AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE * Strong expertise in Android development using Kotlin and Java. * Strong expertise in iOS development using Swift and SwiftUI. * Deep understanding of mobile architecture patterns such as MVVM and Clean Architecture. * Proficiency in designing and integrating backend microservices using Scala, Akka, or Java. * Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native design principles. * Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools including Bitrise . * Expertise in API design, contract-first development, and system integration. * Strong foundation in application and mobile security best practices. * Experience with Firebase Messaging and mobile analytics. * Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and ECS. * Experience with Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows. * Knowledge of observability tools for logging, monitoring, and tracing.
