About the Role

We are currently working on behalf of a specialist school in Leeds to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours.

The school has identified the need for a strong male role model within the team to help engage and support students effectively, providing consistency, structure and positive influence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support to students
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support students in managing their behaviour and emotions
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies in and out of the classroom
  • Work closely with teaching staff and senior leaders
  • Encourage participation, engagement and personal development

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs or challenging behaviour
  • Calm, resilient and patient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain composed in challenging situations
  • Backgrounds in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, care or similar are highly desirable
